About the
Photographer
In 1977, at the age of 8, I went on a family
vacation to Washington, D.C. I was loaned a camera from a
family friend for the trip, so I could simply take snapshots
of all the great D.C. monuments, buildings, and museums. As
we were visiting all the sites, I found myself not only
taking the typical travel pictures you see everyday, but I
was shooting them from different perspectives and angles.
When those pictures came back, I was so excited to see them
all, but it was the obscure ones from a different point of
view that I liked the most. From that point on, I was hooked!
A year later, after begging and begging, I got
my first 35 mm camera, using green stamps that my mother had
collected for the past few years. It was nothing fancy, but
it was all I needed. As years went by, I graduated to SLR's
and Medium Format cameras. And, now into the Digital Age of
photography, which is opening up more chances and ways to be
creative. I simply love being behind the camera and creating
images that I see.
As I was growing up, many people in my life
that I held in high regards told me, "You are a people
person, and you should work with people." I took their advice
and combined it with something I truly love. Shooting
portraits for people is great! It is truly awesome to provide
something that gives someone so much happiness. Not everyone
can say that they love their work, but I can!!
